It's Dia de los Muertos yet again and I am thinking of all the family that I never had the chance to meet.
Quien con la esperanza vive, alegre muere. He who lives with hope dies happy.
In honor of meeting my father's side of the family for the first time just in July....
The wedding of my dad's parents, Eleanor and Pete. They died well before I was born and I only have a few pictures of them. I think I only have two of them together.

My grandfather as a little boy, somewhere around 1919, with his adoptive mother, Mary. This was in Keene, NH. I love this picture. I think it's a horse in the background. Maybe a cow.

Mary again with her husband, Burpee. Yes, Burpee. No one knows where on earth that name came from but for some reason it was a popular name in Nova Scotia (where he was from) at the time. Someone in Nova Scotia told my dad it may have had to do with Burpee Seed Company.

There's no close Neaves relatives left in the Keene area - I am the last Neaves for this branch of the family. What is ironic is that I am not biologically a Neaves since Mary and Burpee adopted my grandfather. So, the line really died out in the 1960s. Everyone I met in July were relatives of my grandmother.
